Planning & Development
Below is a list of work areas we have achieved recent success within:
- Coordinators of busines start-up initiative being rolled out through all counties in the South East region of SEEDA
- Planning application reviews, including on-going role with Falkirk, Stirling & Highlands Councils
- Delivery of Options for Change project to farmers in East Midlands Region
- Delivery of Mapping and Assistance projects in EEDA and Advantage West Midlands Regions
- Preparation of an agricultural report including budgets, financial appraisal and detailed requirements of the need for onsite residency of a landowner seeking to establish an outdoor pig enterprise and obtain planning consent for an agricultural dwelling on the land. Following submission of this report, the landowner was successful in obtaining planning consent for a dwelling.
- Preparation of a report addressing the need for an agricultural building on a grassland farm and the suitability of an existing building for the rearing of calves following an enforcement notice by the local planning authority for the building to be removed. Evidence given as an expert witness at the subsequent planning appeal. The enforcement notice was overturned and the farmer was able to retain the building.
- Completion of a feasibility study into the erection of wind turbines on farmland. Following a positive outcome of the feasibility study, information was prepared and collated to accompany a planning application. This included supporting statements, photo montages, ecological assessments, noise and shadow flicker modelling. Project consultation was held with relevant stakeholders (e.g. parish council, local airports, Ministry of Defence) to ensure that all issues were addressed. The planning application was successful and the farmer is in the process of erecting two 50 kW wind turbines.
